The Christian County Animal Shelter is a regional shelter that serves the counties of Christian, Trigg, Todd counties.  The shelter has approximately 6,100 square feet of space with 60 inside/outside runs, all under roof. There are two nurseries for separating puppies and kittens from the general population.

Adoption process:
You decide which animal you would like to adopt.  Cats are $67.50, puppies are $77.50 and older dogs are usually $81.00 because they have had a heart worm test.  We do not spay and neuter here, we are only a county run animal shelter.  You get a set of shots, county tag, spay/neuter voucher and a rabies voucher.  Heart worm test is $5.50, microchip is $7.50, collars, feline FIV/Fel/HW test is $10.00 and there is a $3.00 debit fee.  If they are already fixed and/or up to date on rabies, the fee is reduced.  The dog goes home same day with you.

We are open Tues - Sat from 10:30 til 4 pm and closed from 1230 until 1 pm for lunch.

To volunteer you just need to come fill out the forms here and you can get started the same day.  We are here Tues-Sat from 7:30 til 4 and Sun and Mon from 8-11.

Please be advised that in the state of KY animals are considered property.  You must openly try to find their home either on your personal page [public post] and/or in Lost/Found forums.  You cannot rehome them or keep them until 30 days has passed.  The definition of property can be found under KRS 514.010
