What Can I Do to Help During the COVID-19 Crisis?

Oak Grove COVID-19 help

We are all in this together! But how can I help? The City of Oak Grove has advice on how you can do your part to help.

The most important way to help flatten the curve is to stay home! But there are other ways to help while maintaining your social distancing.

Hospitals Need Supplies

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • If you have N95 respirator masks, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, goggles, or disposable gloves in your home or see some at the store, the hospital could use them.
  • Face Masks
    • Some hospitals are asking for homemade cloth face masks.
    • Are you handy with a sewing machine? Here’s a tutorial on how to make face masks.
    • If not, you can donate monetarily for someone else to make the masks.

Volunteer Remotely

  • Many organizations have remote volunteer opportunities that you can do from the comfort of your home.
  • Be a telephone volunteer where you call and check on the elderly.
  • Be a student mentor or tutor.
  • Be a volunteer remote crisis counselor.

Donate Blood

  • The Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage.
    • They’re taking precautions so you can donate safely.
    • Here in Kentucky, the blood bank is disinfecting screening rooms, checking each person’s temperature before they enter the room and all staff are wearing gloves throughout the process.

Order Takeout From Local Restaurants

  • Restaurants have had to shut down but are still offering takeout, curbside service or delivery.
    • You can help your community by taking advantage of these options or purchase gift cards from them to use after this crisis is over.

Donate Money

  • To organizations and nonprofits that provide financial assistance to help with prescription co-pays, health insurance, and deductibles.
  • There are also many local and national organizations that could use your monetary donations during this time.

There are many ways to help during this uncertain time. Remember, we are all in this together and together we will get through this. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Oak Grove, KY, we are more than happy to help in any way we can.
