CODE AND NUISANCE BOARD
Ordinance #2017-01 Nuisance Board
The Code and Nuisance Board meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers here at City Hall.
This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome!
Code Enforcement is a board that enforces several ordinances in the City of Oak Grove that have been brought before the board by the Code Enforcement Officer when a violation has occurred. The Code and Nuisance Board will try to work with every resident if a citation (Ordinance No. 2017-01) has been posted on your property to rectify the issue for the citation. You must attend this meeting or contact the Code Enforcement Officer for an extension in order to avoid a lien placement on the property. There will be a time limit to comply with this extension. If a warning has been posted and clean up is completed within 7 days the case will be closed and no further action is needed by the resident.
ORDER OF POSTING IS AS FOLLOWS
Ordinance # 2017-01 Nuisance
WARNING- you have 7 days to comply.
CITATION- posted on the 8th day after a warning if not in compliance
Code Enforcement Officer will follow up the day of the meeting for compliance. If all is in compliance the board will be notified at the meeting and the case is closed.
Code Enforcement Board will vote to fine the property at a cost of $100.00 per hour plus administrative fees. A lien will be placed on the home at the Christian County Court House. These fees are outrageous for a reason, we prefer the resident keep their homes in compliance for several safety reasons (rats, mice, snakes and ground water contamination) that are big issues with the City and the state of Kentucky.
If the property is cleaned up prior to the City cleaning it, but after the Code and Nuisance Board votes to fine it a lien for the amount of the fine and administrative fees will be placed in the amount of either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd offense.
Abandoned/Non-Operational vehicles are also subject to fines and towing. Please see Ordinance # 2015-06 for details
The following are several more ordinances that our Code Officer abides by in the City of Oak Grove:
